Roger Vivier ballerinas

I was reading some history and I went over the autumn-winter 2011 collection of Roger Vivier, one of biggest shoes designer ever. He is well known for “inventing” the stiletto heel. Roger Vivier designed shoes for Queen Elizabeth II for her coronation in 1953 and for the fashion house Dior, while it was run by Christian Dior himself.
Also, Vivier was Christian Louboutin’s mentor.

I love these ballerinas. They remind me of princes and princesses dancing in grand ballrooms, with big chandeliers. Their long crinoline dresses and tall coiffures matched perfect with a pair of small heel shoes. These ballerinas I imagine being worn by the men. At that time men where wearing tights and tall coiffures also. I’m glad we don’t have those anymore. But we have these ballerinas to remind us of that time.
