Tales have a special place in my heart. I’m not talking only about Disney stories with princesses and fairies, but also about old classic tales that have a moral, that teach you about life, the difference between right and wrong and many, many other beautiful things. When I was a child I used to listen to stories on my aunt’s pick-up player, until I learned them by heart and I could interpret all the voices separately. And because of my obsession with tales I will always keep a part of them inside me, and sometimes wish I was from another world.

My all time favorite tale was always “Tinerete fara batranete si viata fara de moarte” ( Youth without old age and life without death). It was so sad and so unique, no happy ending, no happy couple and eternal love… it was then ( I think I was 9 years old when I read it for the first time, even though my mom didn’t want me to read it ) and there that I knew I have a special inclination towards sad stories, dramas and melancholy.
Before that it was Beauty and The Beast which I felt so bound with because Belle was a fighter and not a classic fainted princess. But even that story has some bad teachings for a young girl. The fact that she can transform a man in something that he’s not. Bad, bad story for little girls. I’m still crazy for this moment though and Angela Lansbury is the sweetest old lady that can be.
Leaving fairy tales apart, today’s HOW TOesday is about an outfit that transports you to a different world. Some people dress like that every day. I never (well, almost never) dress like that. But taking into consideration that the outdoors were so fairy tale like, I took a chance on this amazing pink powdered coat with a detailed floral embroidery that looked straight from that story.
So the secret of dressing and looking like you’re not from this world lays in some “simple” details:
* Go big or go home! Do: huge coats, strong colors, maxi dresses, maxi everything.
* Pay attention to the details. My coat has this amazing embroidery, but else it would have worked with a huge cap or a fur scarf. Big stones, sparkling necklaces or rings are a must.
* Don’t be afraid to be in the visor of everybody you pass by. You will attract reactions and be prepared for some not so good words. People easily judge what they cannot understand.
* Keep your head high. Princess or no princess you need to walk with your head high and be proud of what you’ve got. Be the hero of your own story! That’s how fairy tales are written after all.
